About
I found my passion for fitness through my tenure as a highschool wrestler. Throughout my wrestling career, I constantly battled injury and fatigue due to over training. In 2011, the team brought in a professional trainer to lead strength and conditioning, and my experience as an athlete changed completely. With structured programming, I grew stronger despite not moving outside of my weight class, became a more effective grappler, and most importantly enjoying my first season injury free.
That dramatic shift in experience inspired me to bring that same change to other athletes young athletes. I quickly decided to seek out certifications through the National Academy of Sports Medicine, as well as the National Strength and Conditioning Association. shortly thereafter, I found a position training youth athletes at a local company called Sportswest Fitness, learning an integrated science first approach to performance enhancement and injury prevention.
These continued experience led me to seek a greater volume of clients at Golds Gym where within a year, I became a top trainer in the company. Through this experience I grew frustrated watching clients achieve phenomenal results, only to cease their training and rebound back, leading to my pursuit of a Behavioral Change Specialization enabling me to teach long term habit forming techniques so that my clients could more effectively maintain the results they had worked so hard for. After a breif stint at Equinox in westlake village, the COVID 19 pandemic inspired me to commit myself to my own business, birthing Vanguard Athletics. .
To date, I has serviced well over ten thousand sessions, spanning a broad range of demographics, from seniors as old as 100 years old, to competitors in youth sports, collegiate and Professional athletes such as Ernest Jones and Marquise Copeland during their tenure with the LA Rams and more.
I currently coach my clients from Bas Ruttens Elite MMA practicing my own training philosophy that encompasses all aspects of health and well being: training, nutrition, and cognitive health through sustainable habit forming. My wife Sarah and I live in beautiful Thousand Oaks California, spending our time playing with our dog Corva and young son Declan.
